New Life Church 100 Year Celebration
A visual campaign created to celebrate NLChurch's 100-year anniversary across three campuses and multiple events. The goal was to honor the church's history while introducing a visual direction that felt fresh, bold, and celebratory.
Deliverables:
Print, Digital, Merchandise
My Role:
Visual Identity, Graphic Design, Production
Scope:
3 Campuses, Multi-week Campaign
The Challenge
Balancing Legacy with Celebration
original design:
The initial concepts leaned more classic and muted, reflecting the significance of the occasion. Through collaboration with leadership, it became clear that the campaign needed more energy.
color palette:
I refined the direction around a vibrant “cherry bomb” red, creating a palette that felt celebratory without becoming overwhelming. The oversized 100 became the visual anchor, making the milestone immediately recognizable.
final design:
Building the System
From One Identity to an Entire Campaign
The visual identity was designed to work across a wide range of applications while remaining recognizable and cohesive. The next step was to translate the system across environmental signage, print, digital, and merchandise for use throughout the three campuses.
Designing for the Environment
One Campaign, Three Unique Spaces
A unified campaign still needed to work within the unique constraints of each church campus. I adapted the designs to different physical environments, including creating alternative banner solutions and rethinking how the anniversary display could function within smaller spaces.
Each campus presented unique environmental constraints that required the campaign to adapt without losing visual consistency. One campus could not accommodate roadside or street-pole banners, so I created smaller signage and an indoor ceiling installation instead. Another had limited lobby space, which led us to reimagine the anniversary display as an outdoor installation beneath the carport.
Merchandise
Timeless But Trending
For the anniversary merchandise, I wanted to capture the campaign's nostalgic side through vintage-inspired typography. The goal was to create T-shirts and hats that felt connected to the celebration while still feeling contemporary and wearable. I wanted them to appeal to the age diversity of our church, from youth students to our seniors who have been attending the church for years.
The Result
Honoring the Past while Remaining Relevant
The final identity brought together two different perspectives: leadership's desire for something bold and celebratory, and my goal of creating something that honored the significance of the milestone. The campaign was carried across three campuses and a wide range of applications, creating one cohesive visual experience for the anniversary celebration.
This project reinforced the value of understanding the vision behind a brief before translating it into design and showed me how to bring an idea to life even when it wasn’t the original direction I planned to go.
